Easy Casserole Recipes
This collection has 26 Easy Casserole Recipes, from cheesy chicken and tater tot hotdish to pasta bakes, breakfast casseroles, and a few sides that can hold their own next to a ham. Most of them bake in the oven or on a pellet grill, and a couple come together in a single skillet.
And yes, hotdish is a casserole. I grew up in the Midwest and I will argue this with you all day.

Delicious Homemade Casserole Recipes
Most of the Traeger casseroles here work just as well in the oven. Set the oven to the temperature in the recipe card and bake for the same amount of time. You'll lose the the smoky flavor, but the dish will still turn out great.
If you'd rather use a slow cooker, the saucy dinner casseroles adapt best. Brown any ground meat first, then let everything cook low and slow.
Don't put uncooked noodles or pasta in the crock pot, since they turn mushy. Cook them separately and stir them in at the end.
Wait to add the cheese until the last 15 to 30 minutes so it melts smoothly, and use extra cheese for the top if you want it bubbly.
Breakfast casseroles and pasta bakes that rely on a browned, crispy top do better in the oven.

Casserole Recipe FAQ
Nothing, really. Hotdish is the Midwest name for a casserole, and it usually means a one-dish meal with meat, a starch, and a vegetable or two. Some hotdish recipes use canned cream soup, but you'll find plenty here that don't.
Yes. Set your oven to the temperature in the recipe and bake until the casserole is hot and bubbly. Timing can shift a little, so check it a few minutes early.
Most of them, yes. Assemble the casserole, cover it, and refrigerate it until you're ready to bake. A cold dish will need a few extra minutes in the oven.
Pasta and meat casseroles like baked ziti or the pizza pasta hotdish generally freeze better than potato-heavy ones, which can get grainy after thawing. Cool the casserole completely, wrap it well, and thaw it in the fridge before reheating.
The Philly cheesesteak casserole, biscuit and gravy casserole, and hash brown casserole all make big batches and are easy to bring to a potluck.
