Strawberry Salad with Red Wine Vinaigrette

Our Strawberry Salad with Red Wine Vinaigrette is so simple to make and is one of our favorite things to put next to a big hearty steak or another meaty main dish. You’re going to want a bottle of this dressing in your fridge, always!

Strawberry Salad with Red Wine Vinaigrette

The dressing for this salad complements all the ingredients, rather than overpowering them. It’s got some acidity from red wine vinegar as well as sweet notes from the honey, so it really is perfect along with a bite of sweet, ripe, strawberry, and peppery arugula. It’s a salad that screams summer.

We like to pack it up in jars for lunch, and to have it on hand for unexpected guests too!

It is also great served alongside your favorite grilled meat or barbecue chicken dish.

If you’re planning ahead, the salad will keep well for two days – just make sure you store the dressing separately from the greens. Salad greens don’t keep if they are already dressed.

Which salad greens are best for this salad?

The base for any salad is going to be your salad mix or lettuce of choice. There aren’t a ton of ingredients in this salad, so the lettuce itself really has a chance to come through. We love arugula, but really any baby lettuce will work well.

How about some Cheddar Bay Biscuits with this salad?

Picking the right strawberries

Fresh berries are essential here, so please save the frozen variety for your next strawberry milkshake. You’re going to want bright red berries that are sweet-smelling and red all the way to the greens.

What can you serve with salad?

I like to pair this salad with something meaty and/or something creamy. A big hearty ribeye or any of the steaks below would be great with a tangy, vinegar-based dressing.

This type of dressing is also perfect for serving alongside a creamy pasta dish like our homemade alfredo, one-pot creamy pasta, and our garlic breadsticks.
