The Best Instant Pot Recipes

If you are looking for Instant Pot recipes, you came to (one of the many) right place. Here is my collection of all of my favorite electric pressure cooker recipes from my kitchen to yours!

Don't have an Instant Pot yet? You can buy one here:

WHAT IS THE BEST INSTANT POT

This is widely debated. Really, ANY of the Instant Pots would be a good bet, but what size you need really depends on what quantities of food you are cooking. For my family of 9, I found the 6-quart model to be a little limiting.

We often have big family gatherings of 15-20 people, and for that the smaller of the pots didn't quite meet our needs. I was much happier once I upgraded to the 8-quart model.

IS INSTANT POT THE BEST PRESSURE COOKER?

Another much-debated topic. You guys ask hard questions! I, personally, haven't tested other brands of electric pressure cookers. From what I've read and seen in various groups and blogs though, they are work about the same. Instant Pot is certainly the most popular right now, but there are other big brands that are hopping on this train, and I bet they have great products too.

WHAT INSTANT POT RECIPE SHOULD I MAKE FIRST?

I suggest going with something simple. Any from the list below should work well! Also - unlike other kitchen appliances that can often just be pulled from the box and used, I HIGHLY SUGGEST you read the directions on the Instant Pot. You are cooking under pressure, and while it has a bunch of great safety features built in, there are some basics you need to know to ensure there aren't any messy or painful mishaps.

TIPS FOR INSTANT POT BEGINNERS

  • If it is hard to open, DO NOT FORCE IT. The pot should open easily if the pressure is properly released. If it doesn't open easily there's a reason why. Forcing it could be VERY DANGEROUS.
  • Don't touch the pin, no matter what they say in the FB group. The pin is a safety feature, and also there for good reason. Until you know your pot well, just leave it alone. I've used my pot a BUNCH of times, and I've never had an instance where the pin needed to be helped to fall.
  • Cover the steam vent with a kitchen towel before venting. It protects your cupboards from all that steam, helps with the noise, and will also prevent liquids from spraying out everything if you've got a lot of liquid in the pot and it hasn't naturally released pressure enough.
