Smoked Cream Cheese Guacamole

Smoked cream cheese is all the rage these days, and I can totally see why. Our first recipe for Smoked Cream Cheese has been such a hit with the family (and with all of you), that we knew we had to come up with some more varieties to share.

This version takes all of the inspiration from my other favorite dip, homemade guacamole! I picked up some Holy Guacamole rub from The Spice Guy, and we covered our cream cheese in a light coat of avocado oil plus that rub, and then smoked some avocado along with it as well.

Prep your cream cheese & avocado

Brush with avocado oil, sprinkle with rub, and place on a grill-safe baking sheet. Halve and peel your avocado and place it next to the cream cheese on the baking sheet.

3

Smoke ’em

Smoke for 1-2 hours, or until you absolutely can’t wait anymore.

4

Squeeze and top

Squeeze some lime on top of the cream cheese, slice your avocado and place on top, and then pile on your onions, tomato, and cilantro. Hot sauce too, if you are into that kind of thing.

Enjoy!

What’s the best way to store leftover smoked cream cheese guacamole?

This is best stored covered with plastic wrap in the fridge. It’ll keep a couple of days, but the avocado will start to lose its luster and appeal after a day or so. The darker color won’t necessarily impact the flavor, but it tends to be less appetizing (at least around here).

How should you serve the leftovers?

This dip can be served warm or cold, and the leftovers are no exception. You can reheat on the grill if you prefer the warm version, or just serve with some chips and a spoon.
