Traeger Grilled Asian Miso Chicken Wings
My Asian Miso Grilled Chicken Wings are grilled on the Traeger wood-pellet grill after being marinated overnight in a spicy Asian sauce mix that includes miso, gochujang, soy sauce, and more.
You grill these at 375° on your wood-pellet grill, and then they get an optional deep fry to crisp up the skin without having to overcook them on the grill.
How long should I marinate the wings?
Usually the longer you let meat marinade the better it tastes, so the amount of time you choose to leave them in it is up to you.
For this particular recipe, the marinade is thick and sticks to the wings so while you should really leave it overnight, if you need to speed it along a bit you’ll still get that amazing flavor even with a shorter marinade time.

What ingredients are in Asian Miso Marinade?
In the marinade for the smoked chicken wings, you will see some delicious but unique ingredients. One of these in Gochujang. This is a Korean ingredient that contains fermented chili paste, and it has a spicy-sweet kick to it.

Another unique ingredient that isn’t typically seen paired with gochujang is Miso.
Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning made with soybeans, salt, koji, and sometimes rice, barley, seaweed, or other ingredients.
What can I substitute for Gochujang?
Nothing! Gochujang is a really unique ingredient and there is really not anything that you can sub in for it.
The good news is that it is more readily available in major grocery stores, and also available through Amazon as well. Order some, you won’t regret it! (There’s a link down in the recipe card if you want to order some!)
How to grill Asian Chicken Wings
After using the spicy miso marinade, the chicken wings go on the Traeger wood-pellet grill for about 35 minutes. They may look burnt, but do not let your eyes fool you. Once the outside starts to look dark, it means they’re almost done.
What kind of pellets should I use for grilled chicken wings?
You can really use any kind of pellets you’d like for these wings. Our favorites are the hickory and cherry pellets, personally, but whatever you have laying around will work!
Where Should I Serve Asian Miso Chicken Wings?
Traeger Chicken Wings are the perfect summer barbecue food. The pineapple juice will complement the spicy flavors and the soy sauce perfectly. The first time I read a recipe that had these ingredients in it I thought it might taste different, but the pineapple juice was just what it needed to bring all the flavors together in a way that I’m not sure any other juice could do.
The marinade is thick so it sticks to these grilled chicken wings, so don’t worry about all the juice dripping off.
If you are going for a full out barbecue there are a lot of different sides that you can make that will go with these smoked chicken wings. You don’t have to stick with other sides of the same seasonings. I would recommend something like the Grilled Vegetable Pasta Salad.
This side is easy to make, especially for a lot of people. With two servings of veggies per portion in this pasta salad, this is a great way to incorporate more recipes into your meals.
What else should I bring to the barbecue?
One thing that I LOVE to bring to summer barbecues is this Fruit Pizza.
This is a personal favorite for many in my family. It is a great way to make fruit fun and an even better way to help give your taste buds an amazing grand finale. Not only is it fruit, but it is also dessert!
No matter what sides you choose to make with these Traeger smoked bbq chicken wings your mouth and your stomach will be thanking you.

Notes
The wings pictured had a flash fry. These will be great whether you take that additional step or not, but I recommend it!
