This is one of those baby products that I don’t know how I ever lived without. That isn’t something I say often, because I’m a minimalist when it comes to baby stuff. We have 5 kids, and have never owned a crib, changing table, diaper genie, or most of the other items I’ve seen so often on those “baby necessities” list. When my sister-in-law called me for monitor advice last year and asked if a video monitor was worth it, I told her absolutely not…without hesitation.
My story has now changed.
Miss Amelia, you see, if a quiet-waker-upper. That, coupled with the no crib state of our sleeping arrangements led me to be super, ultra sensitive to ANY sound coming out of the traditional baby monitor, and then sprinting in to make sure she didn’t crawl off the bed. Once she learned how to get off the bed herself, the game changed even more because my room isn’t the most baby-safe.
Having the ability to see, clearly, just what this girl is up to has let me get SO much more done.
It is peace of mind.
I can sit, work, concentrate on getting things done, and all while having a view of what’s going on in the other room. This monitor provides crystal clear two-way communication and showcases a full color LCD screen. Plus, you can remotely pan, tilt and zoom. The remote tilt, pan, and zoom are my FAVORITE features. Also the ability to talk TO her from the unit. I can be downstairs doing laundry, see she has woken up, and TELL her that I’m on my way and to wait for me. That’s amazing.

We set up our entire living room as one big play-pen of sorts. It is as baby-proof as I can make it. Some days I will set up the video monitor in the living room, and I can feel good about running downstairs to change a load of laundry without toting a toddler along with me.
